SaneDriving

Workshop programs and pricing.

Programs that work on road behaviour and civic sense, for road users and for the people who enforce the rules.

Who the programs are for

Schools

Wrong behaviours and attitudes, more than missing skills, lie behind most accidents, and two-wheeler education is largely absent. Habits form young, so shaping safe behaviour early is easier than changing it later.

Employers

Road losses are heaviest in the 18–35 age group. A few hours on a workshop can help prevent crashes and injuries and build a more responsible community at work.

Public transport drivers and staff

Many people spend hours each day on public transport. Their experience affects productivity and morale, and drivers and staff can make the city better to travel in.

Traffic police

The Responsible Enforcement Program gives traffic police a civic and social view of their work, and builds self-directed, pro-social behaviour on the job.

How a workshop works

Self-directed

The aim is attitudes people choose for themselves. There are no carrots and no sticks: no rewards and no punishments.

First half: leave the old culture

Participants look honestly at behaviours our roads treat as normal, such as having no concern for pedestrians, and why they came to feel acceptable.

Second half: step into the new culture

Participants are immersed in the culture they want instead: civic, safe and responsible behaviour as the everyday norm.

Real exercises and real facts

Exercises come from experience, for example on overconfidence, a major cause of poor decisions on the road and in life. They are backed by established facts on crashes, mobile phone use and the brain, and well-known examples such as why London taxi drivers memorise the city’s maps.
